DCFI FASHION COLLECTIVE HOSTS A PRE-LAUNCH AND POP-UP RECEPTION
Last month Macy’s department store announced a major collaboration with the DC Fashion Foundation. A select group of emerging brands will be granted prime retail floor space in the new Market @ Macys Las Vegas beginning June 3, 2018. The newly established DCFI Collective is hosting a Pre-Launch and Pop-Up Reception on May 11, 2018 at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel, Washington, D.C. from 6:30-9:00pm. The DCFI Fashion Collective is part of Macy’s new national corporate initiative, The Market @ Macy’s.
The selected emerging brands will tap into Macy’s shoppers, access a stable brick-n-mortar presence; and learn the ins-and-outs of selling in a major retail department store. The Foundation is the first to establish a Fashion Collective within a major retail department store. The Collective Designers are: DUR DOUX, Amanda Casarez, Ollie Quinn by Yanique, and Natt Taylor. All of the designers came out of the various Foundation and Incubator designer programs.
The Market @ Macy’s is a new initiative that will debut in 10 of its key stores, including Las Vegas. The Fashion Incubator is located on the top floor of the Macy’s City Center store in downtown D.C. Incubator designers Dur Doux (by Najla and Cynthia Burt) and Amanda Casarez both designed gowns for the Macy’s Red Dress Collection runway show at New York Fashion Week. Celebrities Elisabeth Rohm and Veronica Webb modeled their creations.
