Ethical Shopping is Coming to Brooklyn
Stepping out of Instagram and into a brick and mortar pop-up, collaborators Casey Dworkin (Sylven New York) and Benita Robledo (Compassion Fashion Blog) show what happens when an ethical brand and an industry thought leader team up. Spoiler: Everyone wins. When passionate ethical footwear brand, Sylven New York founder Casey Dworkin first envisioned the idea for the pop-up, she knew she wanted to help shine the light on other brands as well. Who better to team up with than ethical fashion thought-leader and brand guru, Benita Robledo.
Their goal is to bring their online vision of a sustainable lifestyle into real life with The Better Shop. An all ethical pop-up that delivers the luxe highly-curated experience of Instagram directly to consumers for the holiday shopping season. “Aside from being a highly curated ethical boutique, what really makes The Better Shop stand out are the events we’ll be hosting like plant dyeing, in-store styling sessions, and how to travel the world with only one carry on,” says Benita.
Casey of Sylven New York itched for a way to become a mainstay in the brick and mortar fashion hub of NYC while Benita Robledo was looking to move beyond the square frame of her sometimes limiting online presence. Both were tired of the typical pay for post brand/influencer collaboration, and looking for a more authentic and fulfilling type of collaboration. “I’m really excited to amplify the voice of other emerging ethical brands. The Better Shop is an oasis of sustainability in the chaos of mass consumerism of the holidays”, Casey adds. Together their individual visions of sustainability have blossomed into something more, a space for collaboration and community.
The Better Shop opens in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn shopping district on November 1 and will support ethical fashion and sustainable shoppers through Christmas. Visit The Better Shop at 155 Grand Street, Brooklyn, NY 11249 from November 1 through December 30, 2018.
